KABUL (SW) – A number of analysts believe both the Afghan government and the Taliban insurgents are dragging their feet with the peace parley for their wasted interests.
This comes as the peace delegates from both sides continue to engage in talks for agenda setting in the Qatari capital, Doha over a week since the intra-Afghan talks were launched.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, Fida Mohammad Nazari, an analyst on political affairs, said the delay in talks with no signs of progress indicate both sides are not interested in swift resolution of the crisis. Nazari said the Taliban leaders in Qatar continue to receive lavish perks from the US in Qatar while the Afghan government leaders seem to not mind with the way things are.
With many blaming the Taliban for the rise in attacks on security forces, political analyst Muhibullah Sharif said both deputies to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani have further complicated the peace talks with their ‘insensitive’ remarks provoking hatred and divisions.
The Taliban have charged both presidential deputies of lacking command of ‘Islamic studies and history’. In a statement, the Taliban accused vice presidents Amrullah Saleh and Sarwar Danish for appearing in media for the past few days as a part of a ‘peculiar anti-peace plan’,
