Taliban storm Qala-e- Zaal in Kunduz

KUNDUZ (SW) – The Taliban rebels have stormed a number of Afghan Local Police check posts in Qala-e-Zaal district of Kunduz province.

 Syed Assadullah Sadaat, member of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar at least four ALP got killed in this attack. He added the Taliban are hiding in civilians’ homes. The PC member said an ALP commander, Nabi Gochli, have been besieged, and if the security forces failed to rescue the besieged men, the whole area would fall to the rebels.

Meanwhile, Inamullah Rehmani, spokesman for the police headquarters, has also acknowledged that the ALP commander along with his men is under the siege of the Taliban. He, however, vowed soon additional troops would be sent to the area to push the rebels back.

The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahed, has asserted in a statement up to 17 ALP men have been killed along with three commanders.
