Man chops off wife’s nose in Faryaab

MAIMANA (SW): Afghanistan Human Rights Commission said that a man has chopped off his wife’s nose in a village in Ghormach district in northern province Faryaab.

This is the second incident of its kind since six years ago a man chopped off his 18 years old wife’s nose in Uruzgan province.

The commission released a statement which said that the perpetrator Mohammad Khan who is 20 years old chopped off the nose of his wife yesterday (Sunday) evening and has escaped to an unknown place.

Sayed Aqa Andarabi, Faryaab Police Chief, said that Mohammad Khan chopped off his wife’s nose with a knife.

Police Chief in Faryaab, however, said that Mohammad Khan has fled to a Taliban’s controlled area.

The statement has not mentioned the name of the victim but it is said that her name is Raiza Gul.

The statement added that Mohammad Khan has been abusing his wife for six years.

The commission said that the victim, who has a daughter, is currently at a hospital in Maimana the capital city of Faryaab.

Officials at the hospital said that the victim’s parents asked judicial bodies to follow their daughter’s case.

Mohammad Marouf Samar, Head of the hospital, told SalamWatandar that Raiza Gul has been shifted to the hospital and said that it would be difficult for them to provide her with proper treatment and that she has to be shifted to Turkey where she could receive better treatment.
