KABUL (SW): James Mattis, U.S. secretary of defense, at a press conference in Pentagon announced the deployment 3 thousand more troops to Afghanistan on Monday.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced his new strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia last month, but he did not clarify the details of the strategy.
He stated the removal of the withdrawal time frame for the U.S. troops from Afghanistan while the Taliban reacting to the America’s new strategy claimed to fight till the last U.S. soldier leaves the country.
The U.S. military operations officially ended in 2014, but more than 8 thousand American troops remained for support mission in Afghanistan.
