GHAZNI (SW) – The Taliban rebels stormed a number of Afghan Local Police check posts in Jaghori district of Ghazni province killing at least three policemen, an official statement confirmed on Wednesday.
A statement by the provincial administration noted that the rebels attacked ALP check posts along the border with the Gelan district in the province. It added three ALP men got killed, and five others, including commander of the ALP forces, Habibullah, got wounded.
The statement did not mention any casualties sustained by the rebels or the civilians.
In the meantime, Khaliqdad Akbari, a member of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the rebels attacked three areas in Jaghori, but managed to move forward on only one front.
Zafar Sharif, governor of the district, said the rebels are hiding in civilians’ homes. Ahmad Khan Seerat, spokesman for the provincial administration, said the security forces’ operation has been hindered due to the rebels using civilians as shield.
