PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Several families have fled their home in baghlan’s Dahana-i-Ghori district owing to growing persecution by the Taliban.
Mohamamdullah and Nazar Gul, the two Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Dahana-i-Ghori told Salam Watandar that the Taliban militants are persecuting the families who are suspected for association with the governmental institutions.
They stated that tens of thousands of the families have fled the district as the Taliban are persecuting them on the charges of supporting the government.
These internally displaced persons notified that all Dahana-i-Ghori dwellers would leave their homes if the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) did not take action to reclaim the district.
Meanwhile, Nazar Mohammad, a senator from Baghlan province, has said that the government has not done enough to reclaim the district. He asserted that the Taliban militants are controlling several areas in Baghlan though the ANSF are stationed in the province.
Shour Gul, the military commander in Baghlan, however stated that operation to reclaim Dand-e-Ghori area is underway, and the ANSF would take control of Baghlan’s major areas in the upcoming days.
Dahana-i-Ghori is the nearest district to Pul-i-Khumri city. This district fell to the Taliban militants two months back. Citizens in Baghlan complain that the government has not taken any move to launch offensives against the militants.
