Indonesia ready to support peace process in Afghanistan

KABUL (SW): Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said on Monday Indonesia is ready to extend its cooperation with Afghanistan for peace process.

He said this while addressing a joint press conference along with the visiting Indonesian foreign minister Retno L.P Marsudi who visited Kabul on Monday, first such visit by a foreign minister from Jakarta in 57 years.

Rabbani said the role of Indonesia is important for peace in Afghanistan. He added that the chief of High Peace Council Karim Khalili would soon visit Indonesia for this purpose.

“Indonesia renders its full support on bilateral basis as well as and on international forums to support the peace process in Afghanistan, and also the reconciliation. And offer whatever we can do to support to contribute on the peace making in Afghanistan”, the visiting FM told a joint press conference with the Afghan foreign minister.

The Presidential palace has stated in a communique that the visiting dignitary also met with the HPC chief and secretary, and the Indonesian FM has assured about efforts for greater cooperation between the two Muslim countries.
