FEROZ KOH (SW): 14-year old Ghosuddin is one of the three survivors of the carnage that took place on Tuesday evening in the central Ghor province.
Narrating the details of the incident, he said that the victims had left their home for Kasi area in the Feroz Koh to collect firewood, but as they were returning home, the militants abducted them. “They first blindfolded me and then took me to a remote area where I saw around 40 other people. They were all farmers and firewood collectors”, Ghos noted.
He said that at the very the beginning, it looked as if the Daesh militants did not intend to kill, but as they received the news about the death of their commander named Ghulam Farooq, they changed their minds and finally decided to kill all. Ghosuddin added that before abducting the civilians, the militants tried to steal sheeps from a herd in Ghalmin, an area 40 km away from Feroz Koh. The survivor added that as the militants were heading towards their target, the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) encountered them and after a brief exchange of fire, the ANSF killed Ghulam Farooq, the militants’ commander.
The survivor added that after Ghulam Farooq's death, the outrageous militants lined the civilians up and opened fire. “I was hurt in my foot and then to escape the certain death I pretended to be dead lying on the ground for hours”, Ghos narrated with evident shock on his face.
He went on and said that there were few other people who were slightly injured but the militants shot them to death in second round. He said that a total of 3 people survived.
