KABUL (SW): The Corporation for Petroleum Products and Gas has noted a significant rise in its revenue collection during the ongoing fiscal year.

Waleed Tamim, director for the Corporation for Petroleum Products and Gas (CPPG), told a presser here on Tuesday that the expenditures of this Corporation have fallen significantly while the revenue has swollen. He said a number of impediment s existed in the way for further growth, but expenditure fell by some 65 million afghanis while revenue increased by some 268 per cent.

He noted Afghanistan imported up to 30 million metric tons of petroleum products, mainly from Iran and Turkey. Tamim said better monitoring and regulation at the CPPG helped improve revenue collection, and cut down expenditures.

The officials said only around 4 million afghanis used to be collected by the CPPG prior to the launch of its database, but now this amount has jumped to 11.7 million afghanis in the past two months.
