
KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Works on Saturday inked multiple development contracts worth AFN 1.7 billion with a private firm.
These contracts include construction of 47km of roads and two bridges stretching 72m and 12m respectively.
Yama Yari, minister for the MoPW, said on the occasion these projects include construction of Behsud road and bridge in Nangarhar, construction of Khald bin Waleed Ring Road from Dehrawood Bridge till Mamoral Gorge in Uruzgan, reconstruction of Maimana – Balcharagh road, and Nakhjer Bridge in Badakhshan province.
These projects are scheduled to be completed in two years’ time. He added these projects would be implemented in five provinces. The minister said most of the funds for these projects would be provided by the government with some support from the World Bank and the Indian government.
Yama Yari hoped these projects would create job opportunities for thousands of people, and would also promote agriculture and trade.
