MAZAR-I-SHARIF (SW): Religious scholars in northern Balkh province declared on Thursday that those groups, which continue to misuse the name of Islam and carry out their terrorist activities have no place in Islam.
These scholars who gathered in Mazar-e-Sharif on Thursday from across the province, said that they could play a fundamental role in ensuring peace and stability in the country.
Rahmatullah Buzurg, one of the scholars, said that there was no place for terrorist activities in Islam and that Islam has not allowed such activities.
He added that religious scholars can ensure direct relations with people in the mosques through which it can play a crucial role in ensuring security in Afghanistan.
Amruddin, one of the other scholars, said that extremism is not rooted in Islam and cannot consider terrorism un-Islamic act. He said that Muslims can stop terrorism by rigorously pursuing the Holy Quran and can replace extremism with justice.
Residents in Balkh have said that religious scholars have great role to play in the fight against extremism but if only they themselves abide by what they preach to people.
They said that religious scholars should be a good example of righteousness so that they could influence others in a positive way.
