Project launched to link provincial hospitals with Kabul

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health and the Afghanistan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority on Sunday joined hands to link two provincial hospitals with the main public hospital in Kabul.

The minister at the MoPH, Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz, and the chairman of ATRA, Mohammad Najib Azizi, signed the agreement that would link the public hospitals of Paktika and Samangan provinces with the Jamhoriat public hospital in Kabul.

Speaking on the occasion, Feroz hailed the move as significant in providing health services to citizens in remote parts of the country. He promised to extend such services to other provinces as well. The minister said health officials and citizens would benefit from the service.

The cost of the project is estimated to be $ three million paid by ATRA.

In his remarks, chairman of ATRA said up to 15 provinces would be linked to the capital Kabul with these services by the end of 2019. Azizi expressed hope such fast and interactive mode of communication among doctors and patients would prove better alternative for citizens seeking health treatment abroad or travelling within the country.
