KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has suggested an increase in fees for students studying at the government universities in the evening, but the decision in this regard has not been made so far.
Previously, government employees were supposed to pay 15 thousand afghanis while private students were charged 30 thousand afghanis for each semester in the evening classes. Based on the new proposal, the government employees will have to pay up to 50 thousand afghanis while the private students would be asked to pay 70 thousand afghanis per semester for the evening classes.
Faisal Amin, spokesman for MoHE, talking to Salam Watandar said the proposal has been floated. He said the Ministry believes that the increase in evening classes’ fees will benefit managing relevant expenses and improvement in salaries for the lecturers and professors.
On Saturday, students of evening classes in Kabul protested against this proposed increase in the fees. They urged the government not to endorse it.
