MoHE halts issuing diplomas to private university students

KABUL (SW): The head of the Union of Universities and Private Higher Education Institutes of Afghanistan said that employees of the Department of Higher Education for Private Higher Education Institutes at the Ministry of Higher Education prevented the process of distributing diplomas to students of private higher education institutions.

According to them, although the process of distributing the diploma to students from private universities and private higher education institutions has been officially launched in the month of March (Hamal) of the current year; but some staff of the Ministry of Higher Education practically postpone this process.

Shafiullah Naeemi, Director of Union of Universities and Private Higher Education Institutes, told Salam Watandar in a conversation, that the lack of efficient work and proper efforts of the employees of the Ministry of Higher Education have caused the students to not receive their diplomas since 8 months.

Arifa Paikan, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education, said that, based on the rules and regulations of the higher education, the process of distribution of diploma to graduated students of the private higher education institutions will begin soon.

 According to Arifa Paikan, the Ministry of Higher Education works on a plan to make certain the distribution of the diplomas and the deposit of the fees to the government’s account are ensured.

According to the statistics provided by the Ministry of Higher Education, there are currently 120 universities and private higher education institutes throughout the country, with about 16,000 students annually graduating from them.
