PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Locals in Baghlan province on Tuesday blocked the main highway in the province while protesting against alleged killings of civilian by the armed guards of Wolesi Jirga (lower house) member from Takhar, Qudratullah Zaki.
The protesters claim the armed guards of Zaki engaged in armed clash with the Taliban in Markazi Baghlan district, and killed one civilian and left two others wounded. A well-placed security source has confirmed the incident.
However, Zaki told Salam Watandar his men only engaged in clash with the Taliban, and those killed and wounded are armed rebels, not civilians.
The convoy of Zaki came under attack in Chahar Shanbe Tapa area when he was on the Baghlan – Kunduz highway. The Taliban have acknowledged the incident via a statement.
