‘I feel pride and joy in successful counter-terrorism operations’

KABUL (SW) – Like many enthusiastic soldiers, Syed Wali Sahel, feels pride and joy in successful military operations against terrorists across the country.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, Sahel said his comrades and officers welcomed him back with smiles and flowers upon return from one such military operation. This Afghan National Army soldier dubbed it as the most cherished memory of his life.

Sahel is the native resident of Laghman province’s Alingar district. He has been serving in the military for the past nine years. The young soldiers has taken part in countless counter-terrorism operations across the country. He is currently serving in the second ANA Company stationed at the Matoon Baba district in Khost province.

Narrating the tale of his interest in joining the armed forces since childhood, Sahel said he would often admire soldiers’ uniform, and dream to wear it. And, that led to him joining the ranks of the Afghan National Army in his early youth. Now, he is proud to be a soldier in service to the nation. Sahel also has the important backing of his family with him.

This ANA man said he is happy with the nature of his duty, salary, holidays and meals served to the soldiers. Expressing satisfaction with his life and service in the ANA, Sahel said he never felt dejected or down in service to the nation.

He said citizens across Afghanistan receives ANA soldiers with warmth and open arms. Sahel added the army is particularly careful to avoid causing civilian casualties during counter-terrorism operations.

He encouraged the capable youth to join the ranks of the security forces for the love and service of the motherland.
