FARAH CITY (SW) – Incidents of targeted killings and growing insecurity have sparked concerns in Farah.
Fareed Bakhtawar, head of the provincial council, informed Salam Watandar more than 30 public sector employees, security forces and civilians have been killed in Farah in the past one month alone. Among latest incidents of the sort, provincial head of the Central Statistics Organization and a police officer have been killed in Farah city by unknown gunmen.
Dadullah Qane, a member of the provincial council, has acknowledged the persistent threats. He lamented the security officials have failed to ensure peace.
Meanwhile, Muhibullah Muhib, spokesman for the police, has asserted many incidents of targeted killings are associated with personal feuds.
Nasir Mehri, spokesman for the provincial governor, said in this regard the growing clout of the Taliban has further aggravated the situation.
