‘Elements within the NUG failed to ensure impartiality’

22/10/2018

KABUL (SW) – Abdullah Abdullah, chief executive officer of the National Unity Government, has said a number of people within the government failed to ensure impartiality during the elections.

Abdullah said this in regard to the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) at the cabinet session here on Monday. He said to have the proof to back the claim.

While blaming a number of NUG leaders for striving to distribute WJ seats, the CEO stressed he did not back any candidate in the polls. He acknowledged there were shortcomings during the elections. Abdullah hoped the electoral commissions would address the complaints of the citizens.

The CEO noted the active participation of voters is a verdict against the Taliban and enemies of Afghanistan. He stressed the Taliban tried hard, but failed to disrupt the process.

Prior to this, a number of organizations charged the ‘Democracy for Afghanistan’, a civil society organization alleged backed by team of president, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, for backing certain candidates in the WJ polls.
