Doctors in Kunduz go on strike for security

KUNDUZ CIY (SW): Doctors and paramedics in Kunduz have gone on strike against alleged ineffectiveness of the security officials following the kidnapping of a doctor’s minor son.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, Dr. Amina Mosazay and Dr. Mohammad Lateef, two protesting doctors at the Kunduz Regional Public Hospital, stressed the government must ensure their safety first so that they can better serve patients. The protesters charged the local security officials for doing nothing in this regard.

Meanwhile, Abdul Hameed Hamidi, police chief for Kunduz, has said the protesting doctors should not risk the lives of needy patients due to this single incident of kidnapping of their fellow doctor’s son. He vowed efforts are underway to locate and liberate the child.

The strike by doctors and patients has irked Kunduz residents.
