KHWAJA GHAR (SW): The advancing government troops have taken back control of northern Takhar’s Khwaja Ghar district that fell to the Taliban early on Thursday.
Salam Watandar Correspondent has reported from the frontline that the security forces have been directed by their commanders to have no mercy on the militants. The feeling militants have reportedly torched a number of residents and government offices in the district.
Officials claim government forces have not suffered any casualties in the fighting.
Earlier in the day, the government forces took back control of the Imam Saheb district and provincial capital Kunduz city as they continue the clean-up operation in northern Kunduz province.
With the assistance of NATO forces, the operation to reclaim these areas began Tuesday from the city’s airport. Syed Sarwar Hussaini, Spokesman for the Provincial Police Headquarters has said government forces were busy searching and eliminating Taliban militants in various parts of the provincial capital. He claimed around 200 militants have been killed in the past 48 hours.
