PAKTIKA (SW): The security officials in Paktika province told Salam Watandar that a local police who have been captured by the Taliban as a prisoner escaped the Taliban’s captivity after killing 7 and injuring 18 other of the Taliban.

Abdul Rauf Masood, Police Chief of Paktika province said the incident took place yesterday (Wednesday) in the Gomal district.

Awal Khan, who was imprisoned by the Taliban, has attacked them when the Taliban have gathered to a room for prayers, using their PEKA type weapon (a type of weapon similar to PK machine gun), Police Chief added.

According to Police Chief of Paktia, Awal Khan has brought with him, a ranger car, a rocket launcher, and one PEKA machine gun snatching from the Taliban while escaping.

However, Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban has rejected the claims of the Police Chief of Paktika about the incident saying that he killed only three Taliban soldiers.

Awal Khan is the brother of Dari Khan – the local police commander, who had been recently taken hostage by the Taliban in Gomal district of Paktia which didn’t end well for the hostage takers.
