PARUN (SW) – The remote northeastern Nuristan provinces has so far witnessed no positive cases of the novel coronavirus.
While the majority of the country's provinces are under lockdown, sightseeing in Nuristan continues normally. When you enter this province, you experience complete peace. Unlike all parts of the world, Nuristanians are happy and not worried about this deadly pandemic.
Local officials in Nuristan say that obeying doctors' orders and paying close attention to their instructions have prevented people from opening the gates of the province to the corona virus and keeping its people away from it.
Abdul Qayyum Hafez, the governor of Nuristan, cited restrictions, timely awareness campaign and serious attention from Nuristan residents as factors in preventing the virus from entering Nuristan. According to him, awareness campaign about the corona virus and how to prevent it have been implemented in all districts of the province, and people are cooperating with doctors in this regard.
The government has allocated 20 million afghanis to Nuristan to prevent the spread of the virus. The governor of Nuristan said that if no positive cases are recorded, the money will be returned to the government so that it can be spent in high-risk provinces.
Residents of Nuristan are also pleased with the announcement by government agencies to fight the coronavirus. One of the serious concerns of the residents of Nuristan is that they do not have access to health centers. They say that if the virus spreads in Nuristan, the people of Nuristan will face a possible health catastrophe.
Since the outbreak of corona in the country, 2,894 people have been infected with the virus in 33 provinces and 90 people have lost their lives. Kabul, with a population of six million, has the highest number of people with the virus, and the number is rising every day.
