KANDAHAR CITY (SW): A married woman died of severe burns under suspicious circumstances in Kandahar province on Wednesday.
Zia Durrani, the spokesman for the provincial police headquarters, has informed that investigations are underway to determine the cause of her death. He said it is not clear if domestic violence is the cause of her death.
A resident of the area Gul Ahmad said in this regard that the woman was facing domestic violence for the past two years. He said the woman died because of the burn wounds.
The Kandahar chapter of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) has promised to thoroughly investigate the matter, and share facts with the public. An AIHRC investigation team has been sent to the area for this purpose.
