HERAT CITY (SW) – The Afghan Border Police (ABP) on Wednesday confiscated a huge cache of chemicals imported from Iran allegedly for the production of heroin.
Hameedullah Nusrat, head of the police counter-narcotics department, told a press conference this cache of chemicals has a market value of $ 1.5 million. He said containers filled with the chemical were imported from Iran disguised as detergent.
The chemical was placed in a total of 350 containers, and were destined for Farah province, he said.
The owner of the shipment has been taken into custody, and handed over to the police for further investigations.
