KABUL (SW) – Experts have warned the underground water levels are likely to fall drastically in the capital Kabul if serious attention is not paid towards tackling the persistent droughts.
Najib Aqa Faheem, state minister for disaster management, told a three-day moot in Kabul on Tuesday in this connection that serious efforts are required to harmonize affairs in line with nature. He stressed extensive awareness campaign, modern technology, investment and national will are required to mitigate the potential threats facing the nation in this regard.
Advisor on disasters management affairs, Ezatullah Sidiqi, said on the occasion the purpose behind this two-day conference is to coordinate efforts and plans and share experiences on the national level.
Extreme drought and harsh weather have caused concerns in many provinces across Afghanistan. A number of participants informed Salam Watandar farmers and herders in particular are facing the brunt due to persistent drought.
