Kabul signs a MoU with Islamabad for the convenience of cross-border travelers at Torkham

27/04/2018

KABUL (SW): An agreement was reached between Afghan and Pakistani officials on the convenience of cross-border travellers through Torkham Pass.

The two sides promised to ease the process for passengers going to Pakistan through Torkham border and increase cooperation between the two countries.

Torkham Pass has always had a direct effect on the Kabul-Islamabad relations, and Pakistan has occasionally closed this border, whenever the tension arose.

So far, the details of the agreement have not been disclosed as to what facilities will be provided to the passengers crossing the border into Pakistan.

Hundreds of travellers use Torkham gate on daily basis to go to Pakistan; however, each passenger has to wait in line for hours to get the visa verified and the entry stamped on their passports.
