KABUL (SW): Officials at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have said that over 8,000 more families have been displaced due to conflicts and insecurity across the country in the past 15 days.
Omar Mohammadi, spokesman for the NDMA told journalists that 38 civilians got killed and 42 more have been wounded during this period alone in different security related incidents. In the similar period, 12 civilians lost lives and 19 more got injured due to natural disasters.
It is said that the residents in eastern Nangarhar and northern Kunduz provinces have been particularly hit hard by the natural disasters and insecurity.
Mohammadi said that the major reason behind displacement of the civilians in the country has been the continued conflicts, which has also created challenges for the NDMA.
He added that the NDMA is currently working on a plan to prevent and decrease the level of threats posed to the civilians. He underlined the need for cooperation and coordination in this regard.
