KUNDUZ CITY (SW): In a latest ‘green on green’ attack, two Afghan National Army (ANA) men have allegedly killed 12 of their comrades in northern Kunduz province.
Commander Sher Aziz of the ANA’s 808-Spin Zar Corps has confirmed the incident. He told Salam Watandar that the incident occurred in the western parts of the provincial capital Kunduz city. The Commander added that the two men in uniform were on duty in the night when they opened fire on their comrades, and escaped with the weapons.
The culprits, he said have joined the Taliban militants.
Meanwhile, Amrudin Wali, member of the provincial council said in this regard that these two ANA men were in contact with the militants prior to the incident. He added that the check post was stormed by the rebels after the ANA men were given sleeping pills by their two guards. Wali added that these infiltrators were trained by the Taliban for the task.
The Taliban on their part claimed to have killed 13 soldiers in an attack on the check post in the capital’s Zakhil locality.
