WJ grills the government over deteriorating security

08/09/2018

KABUL (SW) – The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Saturday resumed sessions following a 45-day summer break.

In its first session, the members grilled the government over its alleged failure in preventing string of terrorist attacks. Taking part in the debate on the security situation, Ghulam Hussain Nasiri, member of the house, held the government responsible for the deadly twin-bombing at a wrestling ground in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood.

Abdul Raheem Ayubi and Nazifa Zaki, two other members of the house, criticized the security heads, and demanded the house to impeach ministers of the security sector.

At the end of the session, the speaker, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, directed the security and defense committee of the house to summon heads of the security sector over the deteriorating security situation.

It is worth noticing 26 lives were lost, including two journalists, when a twin-bombing ripped through a crowd close to a wrestling facility in Kabul last on Wednesday.
