KABUL (SW): A number of Wolesi Jirga (upper house) on Tuesday urged the government to demand an international guarantee from Pakistan for the peace talks.
It was recalled that Pakistan has time and again disappointed Afghanistan by promising but not complying for peace.
Gul Mohammad Azimi, a WJ member said that the government should increase pressure upon Pakistan and demand an international guarantee for peace in the country. He noted that in the absence of an international guarantee, peace talks would not yield any result.
Sher Mohammad Akhundzada, another member of the house said that Pakistan should not be trusted for its repeated double-games. He went on to say Pakistan wished to engaged the Afghan government in the talks and promote its agenda of terror in the backdrop.
A number of other members too recalled the longlasting anti-Afghanistan policies made and implemented by the government of Pakistan.
These remarks by the WJ came a day after President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met Prime Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in Paris on the sidelines of the Climate Conference. Ghani agreed to meet Sharif after repeated calls by Islamabad.
