KABUL (SW) – A number of protesting female Wolesi Jirga (lower house) candidates on Saturday vowed to torch their identity cards if their complaints are not addressed.
These protesting candidates gathered in front of the Supreme Court in Kabul in connection with their protest against the final results for the WJ polls. They claimed a number of new members of the house managed to grab the seat in the parliament through connections.
Farzana Farhamand, one such protesting candidate, said if the Supreme Court failed to address their concerns, they would set their selves on fire.
The WJ polls were held in October last year, but complaints in connection with rigging and irregularities remain.
