KABUL (SW): With the cold season approaching, internally displaced people (IDPs) complained about their poor living conditions under the tents. Some of those displaced people, who have been settled in different parts of Kabul city, stated that the war and unemployment were the reason behind their displacement from their provinces.
These IDPs were complaining about the lack of suitable places to live, fuel, health services, poverty, and negligence of the government towards them.
Fida Mohammad, one of the IDPs who live under a tent in Kart-e Parwan area of Kabul, told Salam Watandar that with the raining season started, their tents were affected by wetness and most of their family members have been complaining from pain in their feet and in their overall bodies.
Ghulam Rasool also said that increasing poverty has compelled them to send their children to the streets in the capital city to beg, and if they go home empty handed all the family members will have to starve at night.
They said that until now, they have not received any kind of help from either government or non-governmental organizations.
According to them, if the government does not help them, most of their kids will die from pneumonia and rheumatism.
Sayyed Hussain Alami Balkhi, the Minister of Refugees and Repatriations, said that the ministry has been preparing a winter relief program for the internally displaced persons.
Alami Balkhi added that the number of IDPs has decreased in comparison to previous year.
According to MoRR, more than 417 thousand people have been displaced this year, of which 97,818 persons have returned back to their areas.
