SHEBERGHAN (SW) – First vice president, Abdul Rasheed Dostum, has cautioned against the resurgence of Daesh in Jawzjan province.

The VP appeared in military uniform last evening among hundreds of security forces and members of the local uprising force in Sheberghan, capital city of Jawzjan province. He said that has shared with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani the concerns about Daesh emerging as a threat after a potential peace deal with the Taliban.

The VP warned that the revenge for the security forces will soon be taken, and all terrorist groups such as Daesh and the Taliban would be given ‘a jaw-breaking’ reply.

Abdul Wahid Wajdan, provincial police chief, said on the occasion that the pro-Daesh militants are secretly carrying out their activities in Dzerab district, but they have not yet officially announced their presence. However, the police chief said the security forces are ready to crack down on all terrorist groups in the province.

Last month, Dostum criticized the leadership of the army’s 209 – Shaheen Corps for the increased insecurity in the north of the country. He also said that he would discuss this matter with the President, and if he did not get a positive response, the people would decide about it on their own.
