
KHOST (SW) – At least eight civilians were killed in Khost province by unknown armed assailants last evening, an official confirmed.
Spokesman for the police headquarters, Aadil Haidar, said the incident took place in the Alisher district. Among those killed in the armed assault included Abdul Wali Akhlast, a former member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) and leader of the Hezb-e-Islami party.
Besides the eight people killed in this armed assault, one other person got injured, he said.
The police spokesman further said investigation has been launched into the incident.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.
