JALALABAD (SW): A number of armed militants have stormed the state-run Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA)’s provincial station in Jalalabad city on Wednesday.
Gulab Mangal, the governor, told journalists late on the spot that all four attackers have been killed, and six government employees have died in this attack that began in the morning around 10:00 am and ended in the afternoon. Seven security personnel and ten civilians got injured, and were treated at the general hospital.
Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack. The RTA in Nangarhar was warned by the intelligence agencies about such attack.
The RTA office in Jalalabad city is located in the heart of the city close to the headquarters of the provincial government and main market of the city. The province is marred by pro-Daesh insurgency with strongholds of the Daesh militants in the southern Achin, Kot and Bati Kot districts of the province bordering Pakistan’s tribal belt.
