
MAIDAN WARDAK (SW) – Officials in Maidan Wardak province said on Wednesday the U.S. Forces have targeted an academic facility in the province in an air raid.
Abdul Rehman Mangal, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed Salam Watandar a convoy of the U.S. forces came under armed assault in the Jalrez district a day earlier. He confirmed one soldier got killed and another one got wounded in this incident.
Mangal said following this incident, the U.S. forces destroyed a local agriculture institute in an air raid. Without sharing exact numbers, he acknowledged a number of Taliban rebels also got killed in this raid.
Meanwhile, Sharifullah Hotak, members of the provincial council, has informed the agriculture institute was developed last year by the Ministry of Education with the cost of AFN 30 million, and up to 500 students were enrolled here.
There has been no immediate reaction from the NATO-led Resolute Support mission on this matter.
