KABUL (SW): A government commission revealed on Tuesday up to 1394 employees of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) have been dismissed in the ongoing cleansing drive in the security sector.

Gen. Helaluddin Helal, Chairman of the Special Anti-Corruption and Transparency Commission, told journalists in Kabul as many as 946 officers and many others have been dismissed since September last year. Gen. Helal said the MoD employees dismissed from their posts have been found guilty of corruption and breaching the military code. Most of the officials have been sacked in the procurement section of the MoD.

“The dossier of those dismissed from posts have been sent to the judiciary, new people have been employed at the vacant posts, and they are doing good job”, he said, adding the drive would continue.
