UK-based Noor Hussain to play for Afghanistan

17/07/2018

KABUL (SW) – An emerging UK-based Afghan footballer, Noor Hussain, has agreed to play for Afghanistan, officials noted on Tuesday.

According to the Afghanistan Football Federation, the newly inducted coach of the national squad,  Anush Dastageer, has convinced Noor Hussain to play for Afghanistan. It added Hussain has accepted the offer, and would soon arrive in Kabul to play for the national team of Afghanistan.

Hussain is currently playing for the Crystal Palace football club in the tier-4 league of the UK.

The national team is also set to play a friendly match against Palestine in the capital Kabul on August 19 on the occasion of the Independence Day. Hussain would not feature in this match as it is not part of the official FIFA calendar for Afghanistan.

This comes as the AFF has time and again promised to nurture and introduce more and more Afghanistan-based players to the national squad.
