Two U.S. soldiers killed in Kunduz

KABUL (SW) – A well-placed security source told Salam Watandar two American soldiers got killed in a counter-terrorism operation in Kunduz province on Friday.

The source said the U.S. soldiers were busy in this operation against the insurgents alongside the Afghan forces. One U.S. soldier also got injured in this operation.

The NATO-led Resolute Support mission announced that in accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete.
No further details are made public. 

Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, commander of a 10th Company of the Commando forces told SW at least 30 Taliban insurgents, including 15 members of their so-called Red Unit, have been killed in this operation. He said a number of Taliban bastions have been destroyed in this ongoing operation in the Taloka area of the province.

The Taliban have not commented on this so far.

So far some 2400 American soldiers have been killed during their deployment in Afghanistan. At least 14000 U.S. forces are currently stationed in Afghanistan.
