
KABUL (SW) – The deadly suicide attack at a religious gathering commemorating the birth of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) in Kabul has left deep scars on lives on many.
The friends and family members of those killed and wounded in the blast at the Uranoos Hall, men, women and children, kept waiting to know about their loved ones outside Emergency Hospital in the city.
Wahidullah Shirani, a resident of Logar, said his uncle, who was an engineer, was invited to this event, and is now among the wounded. According to Shirani, he is worried for his uncle as no one is telling him about the state of his wounds.
Mohammad, a resident of Baghlan, was visiting the hospital to see his wounded nephew. He said that such attacks are inhuman and against Islam. Mohammad said his 22-year-old nephew has two children.
Although, list of victims brought here for treatment was placed outside the hospital, but many grieving friends and family members were still unable to find the whereabouts of their loved-ones missing since the blast.
An old man was looking for his son since last night, but so far no trace of him was found. The old man, who was not in a state of conversation with reporters, kept asking the hospital staff if his son was alive or dead.
15-year-old Rouhollah, one of the wounded of the event, is admitted at the Sheikh Zahed Hospital. He said he has lost 3 of his friends in the incident.
The Sheikh Zahed Hospital is one of the closest hospitals to the site of the blast where most of the wounded and dead were transferred last night.
The head of the hospital, Dr. Wahdat Alakozay, said that nearly 50 people were transferred to the hospital, 11 of them died.
The Ministry of Public Health has confirmed the death of 55 people, but one of the witnesses attending the ceremony, Samiullah, said he has seen 67 dead bodies. Samiullah, who went to all hospitals in search of his companions, added that the number of injured and killed are higher than the government has announced.
According to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Public Health, 55 people were killed and 94 others wounded in a suicide attack last night.
So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Taliban group has also condemned the attack.
