KABUL (SW): Qari Ghulam Hazrat, also known as Abu Huzaifa, a top Uzbekistani militant commander has been killed in an air raid in the northern Kunudz province, the spy agency National Directorate of Security (NDS) said on Monday.
According to the communiqué, the militant leader was heading group of foreign rebels involved in various terrorist activities in the north. He is said to have been killed in the Chahar Dara district in a coordinated air strike.
The NDS added it has confiscated some 4500 kilograms of explosives on Monday in the south eastern Paktika province bordering restive Waziristan agency.
The NDS said in a statement that this was the second time heavy explosives have been confiscated in this part of the country in a month’s time. According to the organization, a truck carrying the explosives was caught in the Urgun district. Urgun witnessed a bloody truck bombing last year in July that claimed more than 40 lives.
NDS said the van was heading to the central Ghazni province before it was nabbed. Two men have been arrested in connection with the crime, NDS said.
