KABUL(SW): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) said on Tuesday that they have completed near ten thousand development projects worth $ 234 million this year so far.
Nasir Ahmad Durani, minister for MRRD, said that they implemented some 9858 programs in the sectors of water supply, transportation, capacity building, energy, health and livelihood.
He said that the MRRD have signed 3791 new projects worth $ 113 million in different sectors.
He further said from the total budget of $ 389 million, the ministry has spent 60 percent worth $ 232 million so far.
He believed that once these new projects are implemented, it would directly create jobs for the citizens.
Out of all the development projects, which have been implemented and/or completed in 34 provinces in the country, Nangarhar has completed 578 projects worth $ 17 million and Paktika has implemented 2 projects which are among the provinces with the most and the least development projects.
Officials in MRRD said that they have merged six parallel departments to avoid duplications in the related departments.
