JALALABAD (SW): Thousands of academic books including the Holy Quran have been torched by unknown armed men in Nangarhar province.
Asif Shinwari, spokesman for the directorate of education, informed Salam Watandar these books and furniture burned down in the Emal Khan High School in the Momand Dara area of Achin district. Shinwari said the incident has not affected the education drive in the school.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed that the identity of the attackers is not known yet. He added investigations have been launched into the incident.
The Emal Khan High School is one of the oldest schools in the province. It has up to 3000 boys and girls enrolled. It is located at walking distance from the district administration compound.
