KABUL (SW) – On the third day of reduction in violence week, the Taliban insurgents killed at least nine people, officials confirmed on Monday.

A spokesman for the army in Ghazni, Ali Shikari, told Salam Watandar the Taliban insurgents abducted three passengers from Qara Bagh district, and later killed two of them.

A well-placed security source confirmed those killed by the insurgents were Afghan service members.

Elsewhere, the insurgents killed four members of the local uprising force and two civilians in Chahar Kunt district of Balkh province, Saleema Mazari, the district governor confirmed. She said five more people got injured in back-to-back attacks by the Taliban here.

In Samangan, spokesman for the provincial governor, Sediq Azizi, said the Taliban abducted district governor for Dara Sof, Mohammad Ali Hussaini and one of his guards this afternoon.

Zabihullah Mujahed, spokesman for the Taliban, said he was not aware of these individual attacks. He, however, clarified that the reduction in violence does not mean a complete ceasefire.
