KABUL (SW): Fariba, a Kabul University graduate has said she was in the final year at the Faculty of Psychology, and had shining marks in all seven semesters, except in the last one when she failed in one of the courses taught by a professor who later became the head of the faculty.
I could not believe that I failed in that subject. I was shocked, and did not know what to say to my classmates and worse than that, to my parents. The professor who gave me the failing marks, used to give me strange glares all the time afterwards. I got to know what he was thinking. For this reason, I waited for the second round of examination instead of approaching him for additional marks.
In the meantime, I learned that two of my classmates had inquired about failure in that particular subject, and asked him to show them the answering sheet so that they can varify. The professor told them to ask me to go to him directly. He said if I go alone to him, he will pass me and there was no need for me to appear in the second round of examination. My classmates also realized that the professor’s desire was for sexual relationship.
Even thinking about this was hard for me. I did not believe that a person can be so disgraceful and despicable, and at the same time call himself a ‘professor’.
I resisted to his demand, and I did not say anything to my family because I feared they will blame me.
Eventually, the exam day arrived. Fully prepared, I passed the exam to ultimately get rid of the university and its disgraceful professors. Now, I don’t feel comfortable even passing by the University area.
