Tests begin for thousands of public sector jobs

KABUL (SW) – The Independent Administrative Reform Commission on Wednesday began collective test for fifth and sixth grade posts in the capital Kabul.

Addressing the gathering in this connection, President Mohammad Ghani urged upon the participants to educate a generation that can lay foundation for positive change. He said fundamental change is only possible through the recruitment of employees via a healthy competition.

Some 30,000 candidates have applied for up to 3000 posts in these grades.

Mirwais Balkhi, minister at the Ministry of Education, said the ministry is faced with a severe lack of teachers. He added that close to 13,000 posts have been announced with the help fo the IARC.

Nader Naderi, head of the Independent Administrative Reform Commission, said ​​interferences and political influences have been eliminated in this process, and transparency is fully respected. According to Naderi, the presence of women in this process is significant, and about 8000 women have participated in this test.

About eight months ago, the IARC announced 17,000 posts are vacant in 42 public offices in 34 provinces of the country. This included up to 8,000 posts for teachers.
