FARAH CITY (SW) – At least ten civilians got killed and five others got injured in an air raid in Farah province, locals said on Sunday.
According to the local civil society, the incident took place in the Pusth Rod district of the province last night. Abdul Rehman Zwanday, a local civil society activist, said these people were on the way home from a nearby mosque when the air raid targeted them.
Carrying dead bodies of the deceased, the friends and relatives of the victims staged a protest demonstration against this incident in Farah city.
However, a member of the provincial council, Shah Mehmood Naimi, claimed eight people including five Taliban insurgents got killed and eight civilians got injured in this air raid. Spokesman for the police headquarters, Muhabatullah Muhib, said in this connection that a total of five insurgents including one of their commanders are killed in the air raid. He confirmed five civilians, including two children, got injured.
