KABUL (SW) – The Taliban would join the ‘reformed government offices after establishment of the Islamic system’, the group’s Qatar office spokesman said.
Suhail Shaheen told Salam Watandar the intra-Afghan dialogue would begin after conclusion of negotiations with the U.S. He added after the agreements, when an ‘Islamic system’ is established, Taliban would join government offices.
Though, Taliban have long been calling demanding establishment of ‘Islamic Emirate’, but analysts believe that the current system of government in Afghanistan is indeed Islamic, and there can only be some reforms rather than an overhaul of the system.
Muhibullah Sharif, an analyst, said international community would never accet the Taliban’s self-styled emirate, but an Islamic republic based on democratic principles.
Intezar Khadem, another political commentator, said the Constitution of Afghanistan has held the Islamic principles supreme. He stressed even Taliban realize they cannot revive their so-called Emirate, which they had nearly two decades ago.
This comes as the U.S. and Taliban are set to resume talks in the Qatari capital, Doha. Shaheen said date for resumption of these talks would be decided today.
