MAIMANA (SW): Local officials in the northern Faryab province have said the Taliban set ablaze 25 houses in Mirshadi area in Qaisar district and killed an old man.
Rahmatullah Qaisari, Acting District Chief in Qaisar told SW that the Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, joined the ongoing operation against the rebels in the area. Qaisari added that as soon as the VP left the area, the militants returned and set on fire houses belonging to the residents who had evacuated their houses due to fighting.
He added that the militants killed an old man called Jan Mohammad because of his son serving in the Afghan National Army (ANA).
Sayed Abdul Baqi Hashemi, Head of Baghlan Provincial Council confirmed the incident. Meanwhile, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, Taliban Spokesman, said in a message that the Taliban were committed to fight to the last minute against Gen.Dostum’s and his men.
