GHAZNI CITY (SW): The Taliban have lashed 6 people in public for alleged crimes of theft and rape in Ghazni province.
This self-styled justice was carried not far from the provincial capital with residents from Qara Bagh district as audience on Sunday afternoon. The local Taliban commanders published images of this public lashing while branding them as their efforts for social reforms.
Witnesses said the Taliban leaders delivered speeches via loudspeakers from morning till the afternoon before lashing the individuals 25 to 39 times.
Aminullah Amarkhil, the provincial police chief, has called it brutal and aggressive. He said the Taliban want to cover-up their atrocities with such moves. The police chief vowed the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) will soon eliminate the militants from the province.
